Mario Batali is a madman/hero. Is there nothing he's not good at? Great chef, successful restaurateur, an author, an intellectual, host of a ridiculously informative and much-too-good-for-television TV show, afficianado of fine rock and roll and a man of Falstaffian appetites.
---Anthony Bourdain
Easy to use and simple to read, some of these recipes are from the eight years of Molto Mario TV programs, including Mediterranean Mario, Mario Eats Italy, and the all-new Ciao America with Mario Batali. Batali's distinctive voice provides a historical and cultural perspective with a humorous bent to demystify even elaborate dishes as well as showing ways to shorten or simplify everything from the purchasing of good ingredients to pre-production and countdown schedules of holiday meals. Informative head notes include the provenance of the recipes and the odd historical fact.
Molto Italiano features soups, antipasti (many vegetarian or vegetable based), pasta dishes representing many of the 21 regions of Italy, fish, shellfish, chicken, pork and lamb dishes, each of which can be served as a light meal. With a section on desserts and a foundation of basic formation recipes, this book is the only Italian cookbook needed on the home cook's shelf.

Molto Italiano
I love the details Mario gives, not only for each recipe, but about the region the food comes from.
I wish I could get DVD's of his shows.
I THINK THIS COOK BOOK HAS WONDERFUL RECEIPES THAT YOUR FAMILY AND FRIEND WILL LOVE. MY HUSBAND HOBBY IS COOKING AND WE HAVE OVER 300 COOK BOOKS AND MUST SAY THIS IS THE ONE WE USE THE MOST. ENJOY IT AND BUY IT!

This cookbook is excellent for those who would like to broaden their horizons, push their boundaries and have some really delicious meals. Most of the recipes have less than 10 ingredients, only a few of which may be truly difficult to find. Some of the techniques are for the advanced cook or for those with fun kitchen tools on hand (ie. a meat grinder) but this is not stopping me or my husband. We are up for the challenge and enjoy trying new cooking techniques. We're also willing to hunt around town or the internet for hard to find ingredients and we're willing to purchase appliances if we think they will enhance our cooking talents. If you're not willing to do the same, you may find the book above your cooking level, however, the majority of recipes do not require anything special and might even be able to be made with items already in your pantry. It's what you make of it - if you are adventurous, buy the book, if not, save your money.

One of Mario's best yet. He not only knows how to cook, but how to inspire others into trying many different dishes.
My husband got this for Christmas and 4 days later had it read cover to cover. Now we're on the hunt for fresh anchovies...
Awesome Gift Idea
Molto Italiano is a great cookbook. Deverse recipes and an engaging read. Price compare to the brick and mortor bookstores and the value is by far here at Food Network.com
