An innovation in ceramics technology, Emile Henry's 6.3-qt. Flame Top Oval Casserole works directly on a gas flame or an electric or halogen hob without a diffuser and without fear of cracking or breaking. Extremely durable and versatile, it can also be used in the broiler or oven and transported directly to the table, refrigerator, or freezer. Much lighter than many comparable metal cookware products, it cleans up easily and is both microwave- and dishwasher-safe. Plus, cooking in ceramic is still the best way to preserve the flavors and nuritional qualities in food, as well as develop the aromas. The convenient lid features small bumps on its underside that favor the condensation process and return important vapors back into the food.

My first ceramic casserole. I did a Navarin of lamb ala Julia Child. Worked like a charm. Beautiful pot!

I bought this for my wife, and let me just say she loves it!! Easy clean up even after braising. This one dish does it all, stovetop to oven to fridge, then to microwave to warm up leftovers the next day. I would definitely recommend and would buy again. It might seem a bit pricey but well worth the $. I will also add it is much lighter in wieght than some of the other french brands out there.

I bought this before Thanksgiving and before the winter season in anticipation of making soups. I must say it performs brilliantly. It holds many servings of soup and is a breeze to work with. I own Le Creuset and although it is a good product this is much lighter and the cleanup is ten times easier and quicker. I also love the oval shape which is deceivingly large but does not take up so much space on the cooktop. I leave mine out and it doesn't get in my way, even when I am not actively using it. If you enjoy making stews and soups, and I have done both with this, and you have not tried this brand then you owe it to yourself to get this casserole. It is well worth the price!

I have been using a 5-qt Le Creuset pot for a while and was debating whether I should buy a 6-qt pot. But I was concerned about the weight. This Emile Henry pot is significantly lighter than my 5-qt Le Creuset. It cooks well and the cleaning is easy. I would definitely recommend this pot to anyone who is looking for a good stew/soup pot. The only down side is that there is no life time guarantee like Le Creuset or AllClad offer.
