A super way to make hard boiled eggs that are perfect every time! It is also much quicker than boiling them. I have made poached eggs too. Again-easy and good!

I had researched egg cookers at Cook's Illustrated, and this was the one that they use themselves. It works well, although I did find the hard-boiled eggs a little underdone. This might be due to the fact that I live at a relatively high altitude, but figure if I add a little more water than called for, it will be fine. A good value for the money, and you can certainly hear the timer when it goes off!

It's ok

If you like poached eggs only leave them in for 4 minutes or so, following directions and waiting until it buzzes leaves you with soft boiled/almost hard boiled yolks. The hard boiled eggs turned out perfectly, I will definately use it for that!

Egg Steamer and Poacher is Easy to Use

by Patricia, MA
May 30, 2011

This egg cooker is well put together and easy to use. I have both poached and steamed eggs in it and they have all come out close to perfect. Only slight problem is need for care in removing lid when done to avoid steam burn. I wait about one minute after light has gone out and find it much less hot and steamy then. I am using this at least four times per week and it is holding up well so far.

I love this egg cooker. It does everything they say it does. Eggs are always perfect. I use it mostly for hard boiled eggs, deviled eggs, etc. Never have to worry about eggs being over or under cooked.

I've had an egg cooker for years so when it quit on me I looked for a replacement. This cooker is great - much improved over the one I had

I was looking for a poached egg cooker. The problem with this one is that the timer doesn't work and so you cant tell when its ready. There is no beep signal as advertised.

worked as promised but not sturdy

While the ease of use and results were great with this egg poacher the quality of the product itself was pretty poor.
The plastic tray for the eggs cracked within two weeks and the top lid does not have an easy way to pick it up without burning yourself on hot steam.

A specialty appliance that is worth it

by Amy, WI

If you like eggs or are trying to work more protein into your diet, this is a handy gadget to have.

You can hard boil or soft boil up to 7 eggs at a time in 10 mins or less. And you can poach up to 4 eggs in about 5 mins. I will admit cooking eggs is not difficult, but this appliance makes it fool proof, time efficient, and easier to clean up. We have used it for jumbo and medium and the cooking was consistent regardless of the size. An audible buzz lets you know when they are done. Also, they seem to be easier to peel. (I still shock the eggs when they are done to prevent over-cooking.)

Faulty Timer

by William, NC
January 17, 2012

The accoustic alarm for cooking 'done' sounded repeatedly way before egg whites began cooking and up until I turned it off several minutes later when whites had turned almost completly white.
