overpriced- but a great warranty

Had a claim on the warranty within days of receipt. The dial that sets the grind was moving when grinding. Replaced by the company right away and shipped it free both ways. Replacement works ok but there is a design flaw that prevents the bean hopper from emptying fully into the grinder, so I have to poke the beans with a wooden stick to get them to fall. After it is finished grinding, it will leave a bean or so in the grinder along with some ground coffee. So I have to turn it upside down to shake it out because the alternative is to take it apart and clean it with a brush which is an irritant, to say the least. If you don't, sometimes, by the next day, residual ground coffee will fall out but sometimes it stays in there to stale up the next batch of grinds. And even with the glass, there is still static depending on the beans used and the relative humidity in the room. It does grind the coffee well, but it is not as neat and tidy and easy to clean as advertised. Therefore, it is overpriced.

I researched grinders for the better part of a month. This included online research and visiting a few stores to get my hands on them. This and a very expensive Italian grinder were my top choice. Compared to every grinder I saw this was the most robust, most solid, probably the best made. I like the fact that the only plastic parts used are the hopper lid, and the grind knob. Everything else is metal and glass. As far as grinding goes, this unit produces very consistent grinds, from course french press, to fine espresso grinds. I have been using the grinder everyday for several months and have no complaints. Cleaning is easy, and I do so once a month. I highly recommend this product to any coffee lover.

I bought this grinder to replace a Cuisinart that had a plastic ground container. The container was made of plastic and would always have a large amount of static electricity after grinding. This static would make emptying the grounds a total messy experience.
The KitchenAid has a glass container and also grinds at a slower speed, which helps to eliminate any static, however the glass container is thin and care must be taken. If the bottom plate that the glass container rests on was one solid piece it would be easier to clean up any grounds that fall out after removing the container.
The KitchenAid is a little pricey, but then you get what you pay for.

Why, oh why did I wait so long to buy this??? It's the perfect grinder, looks great on the counter, the glass grind container is genius, precision burr grind, I have no complaints whatsoever. I also am surprised how quiet it is. I think it's a great value as well. If you are serious about grind, and want a good looking unit that is completely trouble free, this is it.

We had a Burr Grinder that broke. We really were not happy with it, it didn't do a good job on different grinds. We couldn't get it to work well for Espresso. We couldn't get the grind small enough.
This Kitchenaid one is great. It really lets you adjust the grind. It lets us now have just one grinder. We use to have to use two different grinders to make Espresso. And it is very quiet compared to our old one. I highly recommend this grinder to coffee lovers.
