    Great product!

Although I just received this grinder and used it twice, it appears to function very well. The clean-up procedure is also very simple. The instruction manual is well-written and easy to follow.

    Great Coffee Grinder

    by Laura, MN
    May 21, 2013

My husband has burnt the motors out on several different coffee grinders. I decided to get something much more robust. We don't use this for espresso, so I can't comment on how fine the grounds are. For our purposes (drip coffee), this model should last for a very long time. We have both been pleased it isn't too noisy, like the various tiny models out there. It has a good hopper capacity for the beans and also a good collector capacity for the grounds. It has a nice, solid feel to it, as well. Recommended!

    For coffee lovers

Okay, this is the bomb of home grinders, built solidly as you would expect from KitchenAid. A couple of issues to consider are: Still as messy as other grinders, I thought this grinder would be less so. My much less expensive burr grinder did the same job. You would think an expensive grinder as this would have a timer, No timer. I will soon be checking to see about getting a back up glass ground collector jar, I see this one breaking down the line.

    Great French press results

    by John, OR
    July 2, 2011

This is our first burr grinder after using various blade grinders for the last 30+ years. Very consistant grind size. It works very well for both regular drip and Vietnamese cup-top drip, and for the first time I can make decent French press coffee. I wish I had bought it 30 years ago.

    Purchased as a gift

My father had been complaining that his regular coffee grinder produced uneven sized grounds. I purchased this grinder as a Christmas present for him. He says this grinder does everything advertised. The grounds come out a uniform size and it is easy to use. He's very happy with it.

    Well worth the extra $

This is the sturdiest grinder. It is so easy to use and adjust for different grinds. I've bought other burr grinders which have plastic parts and they have broken the grinding parts or the motor has burned up. If you grind alot of coffee this is really worth the investment.

This grinder is superb. It does exactly what the manufacturer says it will do. Would definitely recommend this grind to anyone who loves to grind their own coffee each day. Looks great on my counter too.

    Best grinder I've ever owned

    by Gerald, VI
    March 2, 2010

I actually bought this grinder for my restaurant. Now I want one for home! It's so simple to use, yet the grind is very consistent and needless to say, everyone loves the fresh ground coffee! I have owned probably 20 different grinders for home. None have even come close to the quality of this one. If the price scares you a bit, don't worry. You'll never have to buy another grinder again! You get the Kitchenaid reputation of quality along with a very quiet, quality grinder.

    Huge Improvement

    by Jessica, DC
    December 2, 2009

We had an old KitchenAid burr mill grinder (the one that looks like a gumball machine) and it was awful - clogged all the time and sprayed coffee grinds 180 degrees horizontally all over my kitchen and it was LOUD, and I was reluctant to spend the $$ on a new one.

Now, I don't regret it at all. This is MUCH quiter and has not clogged once. Also, it is much easier to control the consistency of the grinds. Honestly, I can't believe I lived with the old one for so long.

    Finally, a reasonably-priced quality grinder!

    by Tetsubumi, NY
    November 30, 2009

After all the reading, researching, trying to find something that isn't called a "Mazzer" (and set me back $600!) this came along, and I have to say that the only complaint I saw was that the bottom bowl was too thin...

So I laughed when I received it because: a. the bottom bowl's thicker than my press-pot; b. the whole thing is built like a tank (maybe it's the contrast that spooked folks?)

Without reading, I turned the knob the wrong way and ended up with this beautiful fine powder in seconds... too bad I don't need a drip-grind! When I figured out the coarse-grind, I was in heaven that the grind was even... and fast.

It has a very smooth operation, consistency, and relatively quiet to boot. Given that I was previously grinding by hand, it's now a pleasure to get up and make the coffee (without feeling like an organ-grinder!) It's not small, but I have to say there are many things I wouldn't have on my counter, and this one is one that is allowed to stay!

This grinder works great. Of course there is a little noise, but what can you expect from a machine that is grinding up hard little beans. It is easy to operate and the ground is even with little or no hulls. It makes grinding your own coffee beans a pleasure.
I would reccomend this product to my friends.

    Great Coffee grinder

    by Jean, NV
    November 2, 2009

This coffee grinder is larger than all the grinders I have had in the past, but it is worth finding the space to store it. You can store enough beans for several days in the top part and only grind what you need. It grinds to my specifications by my selection on a dial and coffee grounds go into the bottom vessel without spilling grounds when I remove it to scoop out what I need. I am so happy with mine I have bought another one for my son for Christmas and recommended it to my brother, who also loves his.

Why did I wait so long?

    by BARBARA, WA
    July 14, 2009

For over 25 years I've been grinding my own beans in the blender style coffee grinders. This burr grinder is an amazing improvement. It is quieter, faster, far less messy and produces a uniform grind at my prefered degree of fineness. I love it and wish I had invested in one years ago.

    Nice Surprise

    by Paul, NJ
    July 7, 2009

I have had more coffee Grinders than most people (more than 3) and allways found something I really disliked and thought " this is more work than its worth." All were messy, all left some grindings outside the collector chamber. So it was grind and then clean the mess. Kitcken Aid does what it supposed to do very well without the mess! Thanks for a really nice Machine!

    necessary expense

    by James, IL
    July 6, 2009

If you are going to brew good coffee, you need a good grinder. Blade grinder's heat the beans to much. The only thing I don't like about the kitchen Aid is that it jams more often than I think it should requiring disassembly and removal of the bean or whatever is caught in the burr. My unit has jammed 50% of the time I've used it; granted as I have only used it 4 times, since I got it hopefully this percentage will go down. Overall though this grinder and a french press make a fine cup from quality beans like Kona Joe's Trellis reserve.

We thought it was a conical burr grinder but it is not. We heard that conical burrs were best because they would grind slowly and not burn the beans. This grinder does a perfect job. It is easy to use and easy to clean. It grinds slowly and completely. The container is glass so it does not scratch or hold oders. We are very careful to not drop it.
