I got this shortly before Thanksgiving and put it to the test that day. I have always had to use boxes or whatever was handy to transport dishes. Wow, how easy it is with this carrier. And, it really does a nice job of maintaining the temperture. The ladies all had a fit over it when I arrived. I'm certainly happy with the purchase.
I ENJOY THIS PRODUCT. I BOUGHT FOR A GIFT FOR CHRISTMAS. I HAVE ONE OF MY OWN. HOWEVER, I ORDERED AND PAID FOR TWO AND ONLY GOT ONE. SO EVEN THOUGH THE PRODUCT IS CONVENIENT TO HAVE, COOKING . COM ON LINE DROPPED THE BALL ON THIS ORDER. ITS NOT THE PRODUCTS FAULT HOWEVER, THE PRODUCT IS GREAT TO HAVE FOR THE HOLIDAYS OR ANYTIME TO CARRY FOOD TO A POT LUCK OR EVEN TO KEEP HOT AT HOME FOR PARTIES WHILE SOMETHING ELSE IS COOKING.
I ordered two of these, both with the covered baking dish. I will give one as a gift, and kept one for myself. My husband used it for the first time last week, to take two potluck dishes to work for an office lunch. One was a hot dish, and the other was cold. By noon, his hot dish was still warm enough that it did not need any extra time in the microwave, and the cold dish was still cold, too! It was easy for him to carry, and as he works downtown and has to walk several blocks to his office, it was terrifically handy. The instruction sheet that came with the potlucker says that the bottom is removable for easy cleaning, but it is not removable at all. And as the dish he took was Indian Curry, the carrier absorbed the smell of the spices. I imagine it will fade after I air it long enough. This is my only complaint, though. I think my MIL will enjoy having this as well.
Needed to take two hot dishes to a group Thanksgiving and not reheat. I bought this hoping it would do it.
Boy did it ever do it!! My stuffing and Brussels sprouts were as hot as if just leaving the stove. The expander was a great idea to take two dishes but only one carrier to not weigh you down.
I used this insulated carrier to transport a corn casserole dish for a 3 p.m. gathering that's 45 minutes from me. The "eating" didn't commence until about 4 p.m. because we were waiting for one more person's dish to arrive. My dish was still a nice warm temperature at two hours later (commute time to serving time)! The reason it was more warm than hot was because I had to remove my dish from the carrier for setup and by the time I got through the line, it was warm. (When I first arrived at the location, I checked my dish and it was piping hot--45 minutes later--just like it was when I took it from the oven!) I also utilized the zipper pouch on the outside for my serving spoon. Nifty! Really like this product!
I love the Double Decker Collapsible potlucker. I haven't used it yet but am looking forward to our next potluck dinner at church so i can use it. I have a couple of 1-dish carriers that I have been using for years. glad I can take 2 dishes in this one.
Although this potlucker should function properly....the Racheal Ray stitching on the product is upside-down making you think you are holding it upside-down therefore if you tip it over...you will in fact be holding your dish....upside-down, making a huge mess. The money you spend on a signature product would lead you to think it would be made correctly.
This is my second carrier! With a big family and a lot of pot-lucks, I've used this countless times. The construction of the carrier is sturdy enough to handle odd shaped bakers too. One of my favorites is an oval baker that I just cover with foil or wrap.I've also used the top section to carry a couple bottles of wine for the hostess. The handle wraps around both sections so the weight of the contents are balanced and my food doesn't slide around. Love this carrier!
I bought this because i was invited to potluck wedding that was located 2 hours away from my house. I made two completely home made lasagnas and i was worried that they would be cold by the time we ate without a little thermal help.
I followed the directions and baked the lasagna in the morning and let them cool for a few minutes before I put them in the carrier, about 15 minuted before we left for the wedding. That was at about 9:45am. we got to the wedding at about 11:45am and it was a cool 60 degrees. I set the carrier on the buffet table still closed. The wedding started about an hour late and I thought for sure the food would be cold by the time we all got around to eating. By the time I opened the container it was already 2pm and to my surprise the food was still a little steamy. Everything turned out great and I actually used to carrier again that night when we went camping to keep some fruit and soy milk cold with an ice pack they were still cold in the morning.
I recently used the carrier. Although the drive to the party wasn't very long, it was quite cold. I saw no loss of heat when I opened the carrier to take out both dishes. What a great surprise! Being able to tote 2 in 1 was also a plus.
Make no mistake the food is (most of) the party. If your family and friends are willing to host so long as you bring food ( and personally, I would rather cook than vacuum) - this is a must-have item. And I imagine it would even work to bring a frozen casserole from the grocery if you're willing to provide but not cook.
Keeps hot things hot, cold things cold - makes carrying food very efficient and greatly minimizes the potential for any mess along the way. I did get a holiday-incentive discount, but it is worth full price. You will love it!
I got this as a gift, so I have not used it and cannot attest to its ability to keep foods warm or cold. However, it is packaged nicely for giving, the color is great (got the green) and it looks like good quality. I am planning to get one for myself at this price!
I got to use my potlucker for the 1st time this past Thanksgiving. It worked great and it definitely saved me some time. Instead of making two trips to the vehicle to carry out two hot items, I could do it in one trip and didn't have to worry about everything sliding around or getting knocked over. It worked great and saved me time. The convenience and time saved alone made the purchase worth while. I normally carry hot dishes out using a small bath towel or two kitchen towels. It looks much more presentable when you bring your dishes in the potlucker.
the potlucker is great. it arrived in a twinkling, just in time for thanksgiving.... i carried a full sized pan of hot green bean casserole on bottom with pans of giblet gravey and stuffing on top. trip took 30 minutes and everything arrived still steaming hot. my sister was jealous !! I'm sending her one for xmas. great prouct. The only down side was the partition/stiffner was not included. so i improvised with a sheet of cardboard. worked great.
