Love this salt pig

I love this salt pig. Not only is it cute but very practical. I bought one to put on my stove and ended up buying a second one for my stove. I have one full of Kosher salt and the other cracked pepper. I use them everyday and really love them.

Spoon was broken but I called ~~

Spoon was broken , but I called right away. It was after 3 in the afternoon. I explained my situation and was assured I would have a replacement. To my surprise , I received a new one the very next day !!! I had made it a point to tell the woman I spoke to to make sure the spoon was packaged better as I did not want it to arrive the same way. Everything came in one piece ! WOW what Great service !! Oh by the way ~~ The pig is the cutest ... hes on my counter and I love it !

As soon as I took it out of the box, my sister wanted to name it. It's a very cute thing to have on the counter.

I really like the convenience this lends. I keep a big box of Kosher salt over my refrigerator and need a chair to get at it. Since I'm a little lazy or often rushing, I would often abandon the Kosher and go for table or ground sea salt, when I really wanted to use Kosher salt. Piggy helps this.

It holds quite a bit of salt - maybe 3/4 cup. This isn't a whole lot, especially if you use if for seasoning pasta water and the like, but is enough that you don't have to refill every day or two.

I'm unsure about how I feel about the included spoon. This, of course, isn't a big deal - I can use any spoon I want. See, the spoon is very shallow, so it doesn't hold much salt. I end up piling it high and then spilling it on the counter. Sure I could pick up the whole pig, and I sometimes do. But again, when I'm rushing, every second counts. The other thing about the spoon is that salt kind of sticks to it. I'm not sure if it's from humidity or static electricity or what, but it's not that big a deal.

I haven't had any problem with clumping salt. I first thought moisture was a problem because of the salt sticking to the spoon, but it's not. Ceramic should absorb a little moisture, keeping the salt dry. I wouldn't recommend this product for fine salt though.

And you can't beat the price.

Salt Pig

The piggy is so very cute; however, the spoon was broken when I received it. I went ahead and kept the product, because it is such a pain to send things back.

Convenient but not perfect

I love having salt at my fingertips vs. pulling the box of Kosher slat out of my cabinet. It's convenient to have the salt pig on the countertop (very small footprint), my only complaint is that the opening is too small (and I have little hands). I almost always have to use the little spoon or pick up the pig up and tilt it just so in order to grab a pinch of salt. But it's worth the price for the convenience and compared to other salt pigs that are much more expensive but appear to be of similar size I would definitely recommend this.

Nice Little Pig

I saw this on sale and just bought for fun to use for my kosher salt. It is working out really well...I do agree with another reviewer that the spoon is small and not really worth using.

Practical and cute

Ordered this to replace one I had for more than 20 years. It is smaller but very adequate. I wish there had been a choice of colors but overall it is very nice and I hope it lasts as long as the last one. Once you get used to the ease of using a salt pig it becomes a necessary item - not an optional one!

CUTE, CUTE, CUTE!

I was ordering one of these for a gift to give a pig collector and decided that I wanted one of these AND I love it! Makes using the salt much easier and quicker! I also like the spoon, seems to be right at 1/4 teaspoon when salt is heaped up.

Pink Salt Pig

Love the whimsy of this pink salt pig. I saw it on the show Down Home With The Neelys and thought it was so cute and wanted one for my kitchen. Everyone that comes into the kitchen makes a comment about my pink salt pig! Love it! Theresa

Salt Pig

I never thought I really need a salt pig, but since this one caught my eye, I use it all the time. Thank you.

I got one Pink Salt Pig for my daughter for her birthday and one for my sister for Christmas. I have one and use it all the time. It is a very handy item for the top of the stove. The little spoon is a handy size for salting things just a little bit. I would recommend this to anyone. The salt stays clean and dry. It doesn't clump because of the shape of the pig.

Usability of this type of Salt Pig

I mistakenly opted for this style of salt pig because it was cheaper that the Nigella Lawson version that has a more offset top. I used to use a Pyrex custard cup to hold my kosher salt when cooking but thought a pig might be better at keeping the salt nice and dry. This particular pig was not the answer. Unless you enjoy dolloping out your salt in half-teaspoon increments using the tiny spoon that comes with the pig, I do not recommend this version. Spend a few more bucks and get the Nigella version with offset top that still allows you to get your fingers in there and get a good hefty pinch of salt.

This was a gift for a friend who loves pigs! She was thrilled with this and I felt this was a fun gift.

cute - and great for small kitchens

I purchased this salt pig as a gift for 3 reasons: the small size works in any kitchen, it is very cute and the price is great. It is a small version of a kitchen tool that I cannot live without. I wasn't expecting much but I was very surprised at the quality of the item I received. It is well made and the little pink piggy detail was perfect for my daughter in law - who loved it. It's smalll enough to fit where my much larger salt pig (that the whole hand fits it) would not so it is a great comprimise.

I purchased the pink salt pig as a gift for my niece. She loves it. I have the tan one and have been using it for over 3 years. It does a great job of keeping the salt free-flowing and readily available as I cook.

Too Cute

Ordered this for my daughter's birthday because she has seen it on Food Network. She loves it and it looks so cute in her country kitchen.

A Good Utensil

I first noticed this kitchen product on the Neely's. It is cute and a useful addition to my kitchen.

Salt Pig

Living in a humid area keeping salt clump free can be a problem. This product keeps my salt clump free and ready for use in a very cute manner. I have have more people comment on this item then any other in my kitchen.

I love the Pink Salt Pig but I wish it had some type of lid to fit over the opening to keep the salt fresh, it just seems a bit less then clean to leave salt in an open container.
