Pint and half jars great size for soup

by Debbie, WA
May 17, 2012

I love to can soups but find a pint jar too small as only half the jar may be filled with solids. The bigger pint and half gives me the extra space for a single soup serving.

Perfect for pickling asparagus so far this spring. LOVE these - so much less asparagus goes to waste.

Perfect Size!

by Robyn, PA
June 26, 2012

I was looking for different sizes online and I saw a post somewhere that someone said the pint & half was the perfect size. Then I found out it was a discontinued size that was brought back! I have to admit, I use Mason jars for everything except canning (I don't know how to yet! My Mom Mom is going to teach me this summer!), so I cannot rate this for canning, but I have a product called the "Cuppow" that turns a wide mouth canning jar into a travel mug, and this size jar is perfect for water, iced coffee, iced tea, etc...I do intend to use this size to can soups and tomatoes. I just love, love, love Mason jars! I do wish this size came in a 12 pack, not a 9 pack, but it is what it is!

My friends all pickle asparagus and carrots, so I bought these as Christmas presents for them. I am sure they will like them because they won't have to cut down the produce to make it fit. I've been told to use the processing directions for quart size jars.

A Little Bigger Is Better

by Adrienne, CA
October 24, 2012

I like this size to store my dehydrated fruit and smaller quantities of baking soda, baking powder, yeast, etc. The pint jars are a bit too small and the quart jars a bit too large. So like Goldilocks found, these are just right.

Lowe's had these in the summer but I did not get to them soon enough and Cooking.com was about the only place I could find them. Even though the shipping doubled the price of the product , I was still happy to find the pint & half jar. Shopping on the site was easy and check out a breeze. Shipping speed great!

Best Jars!

by Vicki, TX
April 3, 2013

I love these jars, as they are the perfect size for canning pickles and spaghetti sauce and other things. Unfortunately, they are not available in stores, so I must purchase on line, and the shipping cost increases the overall price dramatically. I was willing to pay it, however, because I have been looking for these jars for years. We always used this size when I was growing up and learning to can.
