I love the show and when they recomended the coffee maker - I sent for it even if it was expensive, cause I love my coffee. I could not taste an improved difference with this coffee pot. I usually grind my own beans, but also had them ground at the coffee shop. I would make coffee in the techivorm and well as my cusinart and I really couldn't tell the difference. I'd make it for other family members and friends to get their opinions, but they had no preference either. So finally, after making sure I was doing it right, I did return the coffee maker. I couldn't justify keeping it for the price that is charged. One side note - if you wanted a quick cup when brewing, there was a lever to move. It never stopped the coffee from dripping onto the counter. I thought since this feature works so simple on cheaper models, this expensive model should definitely work great. But, since the coffee brewed so fast, I just waited until it completed the brewing cycle. I will still continue to watch the show and follow their recommendations. This one didn't work for me this time.

I read the review where someone complained about the recommendation that one should put boiling water in the carafe to warm it up before using it. I can't imagine not heating any carafe before using it. This coffee maker is not for someone that is looking for convenience and a "fair" cup of coffee. It is not programable, you do need to heat up the carafe and the coffee tastes better if you take the time to stop the flow of hot water, close off the cone and stir the hot water and coffee grounds to get them all wet before releasing the flow of water. I don't mind taking the extra time (and steps) to have a great cup of coffee, compared to coffee that is mediocre and even worse after it sits on a burner for a while.

Filling the tank is awkward and not having a automatic shutoff was poor design. Water is heated quickly, goes through the coffee basket and goes into the insulated
pot.
If you don't use the coffee immediately your coffee will be warm as in not hot.
Because the pot is not heated you must seal it asap if you expect to have a warm cup within an hour. The pot does not hold heat.
Do not bother with this item. Over priced!
This coffee maker is not special for the price. I don't think it is solid construction. I am actually disappointed. The coffee and brewing does not stand out from others of it's kind. My opinion is based on the fact that I use many kinds of brewing methods for a variety of flavors.
Sincerely, Sharon Gordon
This is a well engineered machine. It is basic but the parts went the extra mile. However $300??? It should be at most $$175. The old expression, whatever the market will bear. I love the coffee's quality. The output was head an shoulders above my last maker. It is an extremely well made Volkswagen.

It doesn't have a warmer plate, but that is part of the reason the coffee tastes so good, it's fresh and doesn't sit around and get bitter. I do forget to shut it off, but the switch is only for heating the water and not the pot. To really get the best out it, you need to grind the coffee beans immediatley before brewing the coffee. If you like coffees such as Folgers, Maxwell house, this may not be the best product for you. Fresh beans really do this coffee maker justice, especially if you want a 'Starbucks' result. I looked at many atuo drip pots that were all around $150, but the coffee seems to get bitter after a year or so of use. Time will tell with this one, but so far we are thrilled. There is no filter system, just rinse with vinegar from time to time.

I quit drinking regular coffee because it always tasted bitter and with this coffee maker it is perfect. My husband whom thinks Mr. Coffee is ok thinks this is really good coffee too.

Years ago I did a complete product review and settled on the Technivorm. It was great. Then I moved and made the wrong decision, leaving the coffee maker behind. I purchased a new one for Christmas--my present to myself. The machine is not cheap but there is no other way to put it. It makes the best cup of coffee anywhere, anytime.
I can taste a definite improvement in flavor over my old coffee maker. I don't think you can get any more basic and simple than this and get a brewer that maintains the time and temperature correctly. I really appreciate its minimalist design. It has that simple but complete feeling of a good pan or knife.

4 of 5 users found this helpful. Was it helpful to you? Yes | No Report Violation »My greatest/smallest pleasure in life is an excellent cup of coffee first thing in the morning. A little less than one year ago, I bought a less expensive coffeemaker. I really wanted the Technivorm, but it was so expensive I believed the second rated coffeemaker would suffice. My less-expensive-than-Technivorm coffeemaker was a huge disappointment and I basically threw my money down the drain. This time, I splurged on the Technivorm. Every penny has been worth it and it makes the best cup of coffee I've ever tasted. Makes it hard to order coffee at a restaurant when I know my coffee at home is top notch. If you are shopping for a coffeemaker, don't waste your money on an inferior product. You'll be unhappy and will be replacing it sooner than its shelf life.

couldn't be happier with decision to buy
The product delivered great coffee flavor as advertised. I expect it will last as advertised as well. My last 2 coffee makers were replaced after only 2 years of use (average of 3-4 pots of coffee per day).

I love it! It's simple and does the one job it was made to do, perfectly. The coffee is hot and stays hot in the carafe for quite a long time (>2 hours). The brew is smooth and full of rich flavor. I have no regrets with this one. It's expensive, but well made and I am assuming it will last for many years. Would definitely recommend.
The MoccaMaster has lived up to the advertising for the "taste". I had researched coffeemakers on America's Test Kitchen Equipment reviews. I rated the unit as a yes for good value, but have to admit, it's a little steep in the price, but if it lasts 10 years, I'll be satisfied.
2 of 3 users found this helpful. Was it helpful to you? Yes | No Report Violation »I bought the Mocha Master and really love it. Everyone raves about the taste. The only problem I have had is the switch that turns off the heating element when the pot is removed; it gets stuck in the "on" position sometimes. Other than that little glitch, it works like a dream.

The only semi-negative comment: The number of pieces. Having said that, may I hasten to add, the end result of the brewing process overshadowes all other considerations. :-)
The coffee maker makes incredibly good price but at a hefty price. If you want good tasting hot coffee in a thermal carafe, then this is arguably the best machine out there, albeit $300. I will say, for the money I thought the unit would be more substantial from a manufacturing standpoint. Nonetheless, I am extremely happy with coffee output. This is the best drip maker I have owned by far!
