Maximize the functionality of your KitchenAid tilt-head stand mixer and reduce the mess on your countertop with the KitchenAid Pouring Shield. This single-piece shield is made of rugged plastic that is sure to last you through plenty of food preparation adventures, and it fits snugly right onto the mixer's steel bowl. Attach this shield to your mixer bowl to keep mess to a minimum and to prevent lightweight ingredients, such as flour, from billowing up when you add them to your bowl. Whether you're mixing batter for a birthday cake or mashing potatoes for a gourmet meal, you won't ever have to worry about coming out of the kitchen covered in flour or cleaning up a wall drenched with liquid ingredients when you have this shield installed. A convenient chute lets you add wet or dry ingredients quickly and efficiently, even while the mixer is operating, and it is wide enough to accommodate large chunks of fruit or a full stick of butter. To make things easier, use a small spatula to push the ingredients down into the bowl. Spinning the shield around to adjust the location of the chute makes it easier to toss additional ingredients in when you are moving around in the kitchen as you cook. This accessory fits any KitchenAid 4.5-quart or 5-quart mixer. The dishwasher-safe piece is see-through, so you can watch how your ingredients are mixing together without having to remove the shield to check. This durable piece was made in the U.S.A. and comes with a one-year warranty from the manufacturer.
This works with my 5 qt. professional style of stand mixer, but really doesn't fit the new Artisan Mixer with the glass bowl. They need to make one of these that is designed for the new glass 5 qt. mixing bowl.
I have had a kitchen aid for many years, two infact. Neither of them came with a pouring shield. When making bread and other things flour oats etc would end up all over the counter top. The shield has greatly reduced the mess so is much appreciated. I felt it was a little pricey for just a piece of plastic but checked several web site and this one was as good as any. I'm happy to have it.
This is supposed to work for the size Kitchen Aid mixer I have, but it doesn't click into place or stay put while I'm trying to use it. I have to try to hold it at same time as doing adding of ingredients.
