This works with my 5 qt. professional style of stand mixer, but really doesn't fit the new Artisan Mixer with the glass bowl. They need to make one of these that is designed for the new glass 5 qt. mixing bowl.
I have had a kitchen aid for many years, two infact. Neither of them came with a pouring shield. When making bread and other things flour oats etc would end up all over the counter top. The shield has greatly reduced the mess so is much appreciated. I felt it was a little pricey for just a piece of plastic but checked several web site and this one was as good as any. I'm happy to have it.
In my house I'm the cook and my husband is the baker. I'm also the neat one while he's the splatter king.I found myself cleaning up a lot less after I purchased him the pouring shield to go with his new Kitchen Aid mixer.I usually find batter and flour on the walls after he's done baking but not anymore! Now I can just enjoy his fabulous cookies and not worry about the mess! This is must have for anyone who loves to bake or is married to a closet baker.

The item works for smaller Kitchen Aid mixers, and probably very well. The Pro 600 line is shipped with a 2-piece pouring shield. However, I bought a Pro 550 from cooking.com, only to find out that Kitchen Aid does not make a shield for its 5.5 quart bowl size. No obvious way to determine this before purchase, since the Kitchen Aid customer service didn't point it out.
This shield does the job of keeping the mess in the bowl and not flying all over the kitchen. It also works great for when you add the flour to your mixture and when you are making large batches of things it really contains things. It does fit loose on the bowl though, but it does make it easy to take on and off so you can scrape the sides during mixing.
I bought this for a friend living in Canada simply based on my own usage of this product. I found it helpful and when he and I spoke I told him I was ordering it for him. Only thing was the uncertainty of size but we got it right. He should be taking it back on the plane with him at the end of the month,
Bought my kitchen aid mixer in a yard sale. Great condition but the pouring shield was not included, I was cutting out paper plates to use as a shield because i was getting batter splattered every where, this worked as a temporary shield but it is great having the real thing.
I purchased this for the 4.5 bowl. According to the description it should fit. I hope it does. I own one for my 6 quart bowl and i am so glad I do. the first time I ever used a stand mixer I had flour all over. I just knew I need this shield for myself. I purchased the second one for a gift and hope it does what the description says...FIT the 4.5. we shall see as I haven't given it yet.
Works ok, but it didn't fit my bowl as stated. I may have a smaller bowl than others. My KitchenAid is one of the less expensive models which might have a smaller bowl. However, if this is true there should have been a disclaimer on the description stating that it doesn't work well with certain models.
Love it! When I bought it (the mixer)years ago, it wasn't in the box or didn't come with one. When making my peanut butter martha washington candy, the xxx sugar blows everywhere! It sure makes a difference!
I thought this shield was designed to prevent your batter from spattering when making say, a cake. I was always having to clean the counter and wall after making a cake, which is wht I bought this. While the shield cuts down on the spatter it hardly eliminates it. I still had to clean the wall, counter and mixer itself after making a cake for Thanksgiving. The shield needs to cover the entire mixing bowl. The pour section is ok, I was no better off using it then I was before.
