For the four million fans of the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia magazine, Whole Living, (which, until June, was known as Body + Soul when it was relaunched with a new look and the Whole Living name), and for those looking for ways to make dishes with the healthiest power-packed ingredients, here are 150 easy recipes (each with a crisp full-color photo) from the same folks who created the impeccably tested, easy-to-prepare recipes that made the Everyday Food books bestsellers.
Power Foods boasts 150 recipes, the key ingredients for which are the 38 most nutritious foods nature has to offer--from apricots and asparagus to pecans and papayas, from sweet potatoes and salmon to strawberries and Swiss chard. Healthy eating is no longer about rules and restrictions; rather it is about learning to use these and other accessible ingredients in everyday cooking--whether it's for breakfast, starters and snacks, sandwiches and wraps, soups and stews, salads, main dishes, side dishes, or desserts. Here, too, are profiles of the world's 38 healthiest ingredients, detailing the nutrients they contain, their proven health benefits and how they help fight disease, as well as tips on purchasing, storing, and preparing them. Additionally, there are tips throughout for how to stock a healthy pantry, when to spend extra for organic, why to eat seasonally, and how to understand labels.
