Insert the cooking probe of this Thermometer into your meat, and monitor the inner temperature as it cooks in the oven. A digital readout displays the cooking temperature as the meat cooks and an alarm sounds when the desired temperature is met. There's a setting for beef, lamb, veal, pork, turkey and chicken with a well done, medium and medium rare choice. There is also an option to manually program the desired temperature (from 32 to 392 degrees Fahrenheit). The probe and wire measure 3 feet, and the monitor lays flat or tilts up for an easier read. The thermometer has an On-Off switch and is powered by one AAA battery. Not intended for use with BBQ.

Malfunctioned on first use

by Katherine, OH

I had to return this product. It had an error message for the temperature reading (and I carefully read & followed the directions). I received a refund and bought a more expensive digital thermometer from Williams Sonoma.

Love the product did a Turkey and it turned out perfect. The only thing that I would like to see added is an incorporated time for other cooking.

no guessing

I've only used the thermometer for chicken breasts and the thermometer has worked perfectly. It's so much better than cooking by time.

Excellent little timer

I will NEVER use any other timer. This came just in time for Christmas dinner and it was wonderful. The beep when it reached temp is a great feature. Pricey but worth every penny.

Read the directions,(clear), tried a "dry" run, worked just fine. Used for the first time on turkey, ham and prime rib - not one problem - excellent.

Nice unit except the preset temps are a little high. This can be quickly reset to any setting.

I had one of these before, used it for all roasting. This one is a bit different because you can set it for "beef med" or "beef well", etc. No looking up the right temperature. I had put the probe of the old one in some candy to check the accuracy of my candy thermometer, DON'T do this, it ruined the probe, so now I have 2 thermometers and one probe. Polder makes a good product and your meat will come out perfect, just the way you want it.

Takes a little getting used to compared to the simpler Polder thermometer. I like the fact that there is an area to select my own temperature. I do feel that there could be a second or third choice of temps in the preset beef and pork setting. Maybe I need to adjust the doneness button but I am still experimenting with it , The downside is when you are cooking a 5 pound beef tenderloin for Christmas dinner can't afford to experiment. Literally.

No more undercooked dry chicken

by Jessica, IL
February 20, 2009

I've been having issues with overcooking my chicken......not anymore. The alarm is nice to let you know it's done so you can go about doing other things & not have to sit & watch your oven. The chicken has been moist & juicy everytime, it's a good buy!

I was quite disappointed when a slight bump to the range hood had it tumbling to the floor and cracking. While it functions as far as I can tell (to within a few degrees of the test 212 for boiling water) I'm continually knocking it off the range hood (the only place I can mount it for use). I have a dual timer with a magnet so strong that's very strong. Why can't the same magnet be used for this device?

Simple and efficient!

by Theodore, CA
December 18, 2010

Many times i wanted to cook by temperature rather than time to achieve a better cooked dish. This thermometer is simple to use and accurate. I like the fact it can be used in the oven so you can monitor the temp without constantly opening the door.
