With this Polder Preprogrammed Digital Thermometer, you never have to worry about whether the meat you feed your family is cooked thoroughly and safe. It features preset cooking temperatures that are recommended by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), so you automatically know what temperature your chicken, pork, beef or fish should reach when done. Undercooked meat can result in dangerous food-borne illnesses, so this thermometer is a must for discerning cooks everywhere. The way it works is simple. Just insert the prong into the recommended part of the meat you're cooking. The long wire attached to the probe stays connected outside the oven to the thermometer's display housing, so you can easily check the progress of the meat while it cooks without opening the oven. The probe and wire together measure 43 inches, which leaves plenty of length for you to position the LCD screen outside your oven. You can also mount the display on the wall or front of the stove — it has a magnet on the back, so just attach it to any metal surface. It has a temperature reading range from 32 degrees F to 392 degrees F. The flip-style top folds down when not in use, and the unit is powered by batteries for ultimate portability.

Features:

  • Extra-long probe and wire measures 43 inches for versatile use
  • Is programmed with preset cooking temperatures that are recommended by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)
  • Equipped with a magnetic wall mount for ease of use or storage
  • Cleaning & Care: Handwash probe
  • Origin: China
  • Special Features: Digital readout displays inner temperature of food during cooking
  • Warranty: 1-year

  • Excellent product with expected breakages

Overall this is a great product that keeps very accurate temperature and works great in the oven. Be aware that the cord is delicate and does stop working if it overheats. It is not the unit that is broken, but the prode. You can buy replacement probes. Do not put in the dishwasher!

    I recommend this product.

  • This product used to be sold by Pampered Chef. They quit carrying it and I don't know why. It is a good digital thermometer. I mainly use it for making fudge. I have also used it for cooking a roast in the oven. The thermometer remains in the roast, the oven door will close and the temperature is registered on the counter - complete with an alarm when done. Great product. Lots more expensive on Ebay.

    I recommend this product.

  • I was quite disappointed when a slight bump to the range hood had it tumbling to the floor and cracking. While it functions as far as I can tell (to within a few degrees of the test 212 for boiling water) I'm continually knocking it off the range hood (the only place I can mount it for use). I have a dual timer with a magnet so strong that's very strong. Why can't the same magnet be used for this device?

  • Excellent little timer

I will NEVER use any other timer. This came just in time for Christmas dinner and it was wonderful. The beep when it reached temp is a great feature. Pricey but worth every penny.

I've only used the thermometer for chicken breasts and the thermometer has worked perfectly. It's so much better than cooking by time.

  • Good product but....

We bought this product to use with our turkey for Thanksgiving. My husband set up the turkey and we thought we were good but when he checked it the turkey was coming up to temperature after only an hour. We knew that wasn't right and realized the thermometer had to go into a deeper part of the turkey. At that point we decided to take the probe out and check it as needed.
The product worked wonderfully and we're looking forwarded to using it on a roast or something with more depth.

    I recommend this product.

  • This item was purchased as a gift for my 26 yr old son . I was looking for something like the one I have from Pampered Chef (they no longer carry them) as he always borrowed mine. I found this after 20 min of looking and must say he is completely thrilled. In fact his friends have called me to get your info so they can order. Thank you very much for helping me to fulfill this special gift for someone very hard to buy for.

  • If you only want to use it once...

I used the the Polder Thermometer once a few days before Thanksgiving (I'd purchased it for use on Thanksgiving) and that was the one and only time it worked. After that, every time you turned it on the thermometer would beep showing that the indicated meat was done, even though you hadn’t used it yet.

  • Didn't work at all!

I followed all directions on this thermometer, and the first and only time I used it, it failed completely.

I put it in raw meat and put it in the oven. Within 3 minutes, it was beeping that it had reached 160 degrees. It was fully centered in the meat and there was no way that it could have reached that temp.

  • Meat thermomerter

This product is simple to use and accuratley measures the meat temperature. It is also easy to clean. I use it to test my barbeque once off the grill, it's quick and allows me to put the meat back on if I underestimated the doneness.

  • Works great and is very accurate-you can also change the pre-programmed temperatures to suit your needs. For example. I changed the temperature of the pork to 145 from 170. Very easy to use and to clean. I like how you just stick it the oven door and walk away-the alarm is very loud and goes off until you turn it off-I can hear it wherever I am in the house.

I had to return this product. It had an error message for the temperature reading (and I carefully read & followed the directions). I received a refund and bought a more expensive digital thermometer from Williams Sonoma.
