It seems like this thermometer cost more than it should have, but the added shipping and handling probably made it seem worse than it actually was. The most notable thing about this product was how IMPOSSIBLE it seemed to be to remove it from it's plastic packaging without BREAKING it!! It was extremely difficult and took a very long time. Apparently, I didn't break mine after all (but it was "iffy").
I still don't understand at all what the four different settings on it mean: sometimes it reads enable; sometimes disable; sometimes on; and sometimes off. Why can't it just be on or off? I have no idea if I'm leaving the thing on and running the battery down. Other than that, it seems to work very well and is easy to read, but it just isn't very attractive at all. It looks like a factory part or something - not something aesthetically pleasing for a modern day kitchen.
