Cement your master chef status when you lord over your culinary domain wielding the Kyocera 5.5-in. Santoku Knife. This all-purpose knife's advanced ceramic blade isn't just impressively sharp; it will hold its edge more than 10 times longer than other comparable models on the market—even those made from high-carbon steel. Sleek, lightweight construction and the perfect balance between blade and handle keeps fatigue at bay as you chop your way through piles of stir-fry ingredients or enough potatoes and freshly shucked corn to prep a veritable vat of chowder. We love the many advantages of Kyocera's proprietary Zirconia 206 ceramic, including its ability to resist rust and wear and tear, its impressively sharp edge and the blade's unparalleled purity that won't react with foods to alter appearance, smell or flavor. If we had to recommend one knife that's perfect for both a new cook stocking their first kitchen and a seasoned pro searching for the ideal everyday knife, this versatile and expertly crafted piece of cutlery would be at the top of the list. Features:
  • Razor-sharp blade retains its edge
  • Pure ion-free composition will never taint or discolor food
  • Rust-resistant blade won't deteriorate when washed or wet
  • Lightweight and perfectly balanced for easy maneuverability
  • Made from Kycoera's proprietary Zirconia 206 ceramic for a sharper, more durable blade
  • Lifetime warranty ensures years of worry-free use
  • Lifetime complimentary sharpening restores knives to factory condition for the price of shipping and handling
  • Cleaning & Care: Handwash with mild dish soap
  • Material Blade: Zirconium Oxide
  • Material Handle: Polypropylene Resin
  • Origin: Japan
  • Size: 5.5-in.

  • Best knife ever!

This is a wonderful knife. Bought a white one for me, and loved it so much, gave a black one for Mothers' Day. She loves it as well. This knife keeps its sharpness much longer than any other knife I own--even more so than Wustoff, Henkels, or Global. It is very light, so you don't get as tired. The white one stains a little after use, and this is why I bought a black one for my mom. She's a clean nut.

    I recommend this product.

  • Very Sharp

Phenominally sharp knife. I bought this and am in culinary school, my minced shallots and garlic can actually come out smaller and more uniform than the instructor's. The edge wore off only after a couple of weeks though, I thought it would last longer than that. I only use it for vegetables and it melts through them.

    I recommend this product.

  • *Really* sharp knife!

You might want to calibrate this review knowing that I've never owned a good sharp knife before, but this knife is amazing. You can almost just sit it on top of a tomato and it will cut right through just like that. I'm a bit nervous about damaging it (can't use it on hard foods, for smashing garlic etc.), but it's a lovely product.

    I recommend this product.

  • Re sharpening

Having the option of getting the knife re-sharpened is a huge plus. As reviews have noted, use of ceramic knives is limited due to the brittle blade...but the blade cuts GREAT! ....just don't use the knife to wedge or pry.

    I recommend this product.
