| premature but well founded |

| by William (West Grove, PA) 1 review Because of the fact that I am moving within the next year or two, I haven't used it yet; but I wanted a unit that would stand up to all of my requests. I want to get back to baking my own bread, as I used to back in the mid 80s, as all of my old neighbors would attest. However, back in the 80s, I had, what was the largest then; and it never let me down. I also have an immersion blender that always performs well. So, I can expect nothing but the same when I use it soon.
Sincerely, Bill Nice,West Grove, Pa. |

| by Elva (Long Beach, CA) 3 reviews I recently purchased my Kitchen-Aid because I was taking a cake decorating class and my Hamilton Beach hand mixer was just not cutting it! I've always wanted a Kitchen-Aid, what better opportunity? It's a very powerful motor which I will need Christmas time when I make tamales - the masa is really tough & I think my Kitchen-Aid can handle it. |

| by JoAnne (Crossville, TN) 3 reviews Love. Love. Love this mixer. We are going to very happy together for a very long time. I gave this mixer a 4 rating due to the 4 things to note.
4 THINGS TO NOTE:
~~~ Locking the bowl onto the stand is a little tricky... but I think I'm getting the hang of it. When I read the booklet... don't remember that being addressed.
~~~ It takes a moment when you start the mixer for the mixer to 'GO'. There's a delay. 'Go' slow. At first, I thought this was a disappointment .... compared to my 3 qt KitchenAid mixer (zoom zoom).
~~~ IF you are whipping 3 egg whites ... the whipper doesn't touch them. If you add ONE more egg white, there is success. I use XtraLarge eggs.
~~~ Seems to throw the batter against the walls of the bowl more than usual and you need to stop and scrap down. Seems like I see Martha do that more often now that I am in the know. |

| Best Stand Mixer |
 | Would purchase again | Apr. 1, 2009 |
| by Peggy (Charlotte, NC) 9 reviews This 6 quart stand mixer from Kitchen Aid is the best I have ever owned.
It is extremely sturdy, with a huge bowl, and it has been able to handle everything I have thrown at it.
No wobbling, no hesitating, no whining.
I find I spend much less time scraping down the sides of the bowl with this new wider bowl. The fact that I can adjust the position of the paddle, etc. with one little screw, makes all the difference in the world as to whether my ingredients get mixed together or not. No more finding flour or cream cheese left on the bottom or corners of the bowl.
The fact that the bowl lifts up to the mixer is something new to me and I love it. My old mixer was a 'flip-top' and I used to worry it would flip right into the next county, if I wasn't careful. No need to worry now! The lever is quick and smooth, and when you lock it into place, you know you are ready (and safe) to go.

| Great power, but could be more rugged |
 | Would purchase again | Mar. 20, 2009 |
| by Nathaniel (Walnut Creek, CA) 2 reviews The power of this machine is pretty impressive. If it didn't have an orbital motion on the mixing element you could probably use it as a drill press. My only complaint is that the mechanism that holds the bowl onto the machine is too weak for the power of the mixer. If you mix large amounts of stuff, say 5lbs of potatoes or an equal amount of bread dough, the mixing bowl rocks back and forth and occaisionally hops off the back bracket that holds it onto the machine.
Another minor annoyance for me was all the mixing attachments were aluminum. My mon has the same model mixer that she got like 15 years ago and the mixing attacchments are steel. The bowl on her machine requires some muscle to get onto the mounting bracket, which I also like. I'd rather spend the effort to get the thing on there sold than have 5lbs of partially mashed potatoes go sliding all over my counter when the mouting bracket releases on its own.
This is a big mixer for big boys and girls. They shouldn't have wussed-down the design. |

| Mixed opinion |
 | Would not purchase again | Feb. 3, 2009 |
| by Cindy (Las Vegas, NV) 1 review I have had a standard-sized Kitchenaid mixer for over 20 years, and I'm still in love with it. However, I wanted a larger-capacity and higher-power mixer to handle larger batches, so I purchased this one. The motor is very strong, but while it can handle a larger, heavier batch (such as cookie dough), it does so at the expense of the stability of the rest of the machine - it shakes around instead of standing nice and solid. I'm thinking I should have selected a new mixer with the larger capacity, but not so much extra motor - I don't think it's really needed. |

| KitchenAid Stand Mixer |
 | Would purchase again | Jan. 21, 2009 |
| by Cathleen (Murphy, NC) 1 review The 6 quart KitchenAid stand mixer is a machine for serious baking and cooking. The nickel pearl finish is easy to keep clean and matches the other stainless steel products in y kitchen. I just love the strength, speed and ease of use this KitchenAid product offers. I look forward to many years of baking bliss. |

| BIGGER SIZE BUT HARDER TO USE |
 | Would not purchase again | Jan. 9, 2009 |
| by LIN (Houston, TX) 2 reviews Want to make several batches of cookies at once? The larger size mixer promises great results and doesn't disappoint. The mixer has more power than the conventional stand mixer and makes quick work of incorporating ingredients.
I found the mixer bowl to be a little hard to handle; it sits precariously on two posts outside the perimeter of the bowl. Getting the bowl nestled in just so took longer than the smaller mixer's twist bowl bottom configuration. The mixer head does not lower into the bowl; instead the bowl rises to meet the beater. i wanted to adjust the head downward slightly for a tighter fit; but the mixer doesn't currently have an adjustment for the top.
The mixer has a larger footprint than the smaller Kitchenaid mixer; and I miss the ease in using the smaller appliance. The mixer has more power but the question is; do you need it?
I think I traded in my BMW for a Suburban. Great mixer, lots of space for big jobs. But for everyday use, I want my smaller Kitchenaid stand mixer back. |
