It has a good welght. The pestle is shiny but the end is unfinished which helps the grinding process. Together they grind any ingredient faster. I have noticed that it hasn't acquired any smell or odors from any of the foods I've put in there which is great because I can use it for all foods without the fear of having and savory flavors crossing over to the sweet ones. It came in a small box with the pestle on top. It's very easy to clean. I would recommend this to anyone especially if they are short on space.
