by Ed (Brookline, NH) 2 reviews This item should not be used with an aluminum (disposable) pie plate because it is too sharp and stiff. It will cut through the pie plate rather than lift the pie. I think it is too sharp for a steal pie plate also since it will leave big scratches. It might be alright with a ceramic dish.

The blade is very sharp and comes with a vinyl sleeve for protection. I keep it in my in-drawer knife block with my other cutlery.
