Manufactured by Zojirushi, a leading housewares manufacturer since 1918, this top-of-the-line rice cooker and steamer will make up to 10 cups of rice in just minutes. An automatic Keep Warm function keeps the rice warm until you're ready to serve, and the stay-cool handles let you move it without the use of gloves. The stainless steel steaming tray and nonstick cooking pan are both removable. Also included is a measuring cup and rice paddle for scooping and serving. Note: Although you can use this cooker to prepare brown rice, an additional step is involved. You must first soak the brown rice in water before cooking, at least four hours or overnight for best results.

It cooks differently than the older model rice cooker that I have had for over 20 years. The rice has a crusty bottom to it that is very subtle. It seems to cook the rice more thoroughly and faster.
by George (Chapel Hill, NC) 1 review What I like about this rice cooker is that it is solidly built and has enough flexibility so that you can use it as a steamer or modify the recipes ( like adding vegetables or chicken, etc.,) and prepare a variety of rice dishes other than plain rice. I have a smaller, fully automated Zojirushi Rice Cooker that is excellent for cooking rice without care, but since it is fully programmed by fuzzy logic it is not as versatile as this model. This manufacturer produces high quality appliances including bread machines.
