illy Medium Roast Whole Bean Coffee:
In 1933, when Francesco Illy founded illycaffe in Trieste, Italy,
his dream was to produce and sell the best coffee in the world. After
careful deliberation, he chose the Arabica bean, prized for its pronounced
aroma, its mild, well-rounded flavor, and its low caffeine content. However,
producing a superior coffee was inconsequential if he couldn't find a way to
preserve the freshness. With great persistence, Illy soon found a solution:
containers in which nitrogen is substituted for air, making it possible to
keep roasted coffee beans fresh for up to 2 years! His pressurization method
for preserving coffee made history and is still an integral part of the illy
packaging today. Inside this 8.8-oz. pressurized container are illy's
specially selected Arabica beans, each one unbroken, perfectly roasted and
incredibly fresh -- a coffee lover's dream realized. May be used for
espresso as well as brewed coffee.

by Sandra (Lakewood, OH) 1 review I have drank this coffee many times while traveling in Europe. They really know how to make and drink coffee over there! I purchased this coffee to use in my new french press coffee maker and it was absolutely delicious!!!!
by Jonathan (FPO, AP) 1 review Illy coffee is great for many different uses whether espresso, moka pot, american coffeemaker, etc. Be careful Illy coffee beans are so fresh and light they absorb more water than a typical oily bean. Absolutely some of the world's finest coffee beans, but you pay for it. I have made Illy my bean of choice for daily use and I love a little luxury in my day.
by Robert (WYNNE, AR) 7 reviews The coffee like/dislike opinion is quite basically that ... an opinion. I much prefer Lavazza Gold, but Illy always receives high marks, too. My favorite is Estrella pre-ground, but this probably sounds sacrilegious. For some reason that totally escapes me, I cannot turn the Illy into an espresso that tastes good to me. I don't have this problem with other beans, so I'm disappointed yet willing to blame myself until I finally give up in frustration.
