Leifheit Egg Slicer:
For making perfectly cut slices out of your hard boiled egg, this well designed German tool is both quick and simple to use. Just place your egg into the shaped bottom and fold-over the top portion of the slicer -- the thin wires on top slice through the egg, leaving you with lovely slices for your salads or sandwich trays. Also great to slice strawberries, kiwis, mushrooms etc.

Even though most of the cheaper ones tell you they can be sliced, at some point (some sooner than later!) the wires snap while trying to do those items. I finally decided to buy the best egg slicer that I could find and this is it. Although I've only used it a few times, it seems more durable than any I have had before. This one is heavier in weight and the wires seem to be slightly thicker than usual, so I would expect it to hold up better than the ones I have had in the past. So far, I am very pleased with this purchase.

I was especially concerned about the quality of the wires, since those broke quite easily on former egg slicers which I had purchased. The wires on this product are very heavy and seem indestructible! I'm looking forward to a lifetime of use.

The first task I tried it on was to cut mushrooms, and it went through them very nicely. Then I tried a basket of strawberries, which likewise were cut quickly and beautifully for the top of my pie. Finally, I did use it for hard boiled eggs in my potato salad, and those with done effortlessly. I would recomment this Leifheit egg slicer to everyone.
