It's a pretty safe bet that your mother - and your grandmother - owned a covered roasting pan like this one. The same U.S. company has been making these black porcelain-on-steel roasters, specked with white flecks, since 1871. This large roaster has a "tree" embossed pattern on the bottom, to partially lift food off the surface. To store the pan, just invert the lid. The Granite Ware roaster is a practical, economical, time-honored choice. No roasting rack included. Not safe for glass/ceramic/induction stoves.
by Susan (Edmond, OK) 2 reviews I had to return my original order because the top and bottom had dents from shipping. I paid shipping charges to return the item. I received the replacement and again their is a dent in the bottom. However, I am not going to return the item I will see if the paint continues to come off where the dent is located. I would recommend better shipping containers or the item was dented prior to shipment.
by Christine (Central Islip, NY) 2 reviews Always appreciated my huge rectangular enamel over metal roasting pan, it was starting to wear after 25+ years, finally found this one here. You can't beat the practicality of this set: durable yet lightweight, easy to use and clean; the dark color and enamel retain the heat so items cook faster and moister. Best of all is the naturally slick enamel surface that won't interact with acids in food and is easy to clean, and will never peel off like the toxic "non-stick" cookware that is sold today. The "tree" design in the bottom provides a raised surface for roasts without having to use a rack, and is a nice touch of last-century whimsy. The best turkeys come from these roasters. Fantastic value, and nice to see it's made in the USA, too.
by Marylin (Yardley, PA) 1 review I purchased this roaster as a gift for my mother. Her original roaster was probably 50 years old and needed replacing. I found this online, hoping it would measure up to the original one she had. Much to my delight, she absolutely loved it!
by Hollie (Houston, TX) 1 review I learned to cook with a roaster like this and know I will never need another one. I'm delighted to have one of my own.
