by Laura (La Center, WA) 1 review I chose the Hot Pot for several reasons. We drink tea and french-pressed coffee every day. I need to boil water every morning. My old one was a stove-top kettle. Unfortunately many years of service has seen it abused a time or two. The bottom was no longer flat. It didn't sit right on my glass-topped range. It was a bad combination for both range and kettle.
In looking for a replacement I wanted non-plastic construction and a smooth, cleanable interior. I also ran across an episode of Alton Brown's Good Eats where he used this kettle. A little more research and I was sold. I bought it and have used it several times per day since it arrived.
It works great. It looks good and does not take up much counter space. It heats water lightning fast. The base is not grabby or tippy and the pot is easy to lift and pour. I have no complaints or worries at all. This Hot Pot is great.
I find myself using it when I need a couple of cups of merely warm water, too. It heats water faster than it comes warm to my kitchen tap or when using the microwave. I don't have to let the water run to get a bit of warm that way.
The only thing about it that raises an eyebrow is that it brings water to a -very- hard boil for at least 30-45 seconds before the automatic shut-off works.
by Kimberly (Everett, WA) 2 reviews This hot pot is small but mighty. It boils water faster than you could in a microwave. Lives up to it's reputation. Short cord for safety but the directions say you can order a longer cord if needed.
by MICHELLE (Big Piney, WY) 1 review I plugged the Hot Pot in, set it on the circular coil pad it sits on, pushed the button down and.............nothing. I had to twist the pot on the circular pad to get it to seat correctly then I had to flip the switch back up, then down again. Once I did that, it worked just fine. Unfortunately, I've had to do that every time I've used it. I was very dissappointed given what this small appliance costs.
The safety features are: short cord... no flame... Automatic shut off... no cord attached to the pot itself...
This is an amazing product... To say that it is fast is an understatement... I purchased it to take with us to a National horse show... It is routine for the exhibiters to share food etc while we are awaiting specific events to compete...
I will definitely purchase another whenever this one comes to an end...
by John (Coltons Point Rd, MD) 1 review Very fast and energy efficient. I wish that it could hold water at a simmer, to be able to slowly add hot water to cooking as needed. But it heats fast enough that this not really an issue.
