Hamilton Beach Double Dish Slow Cooker:
Hamilton Beach's 6-Qt. Slow Cooker lets you cook and serve from one pot! Great for both large meals and for parties, it features two Double Dish nonstick bowls that rest at the top of the slow cooker; use them for serving warm dips and appetizers at parties. Remove them and use the bottom portion for larger foods such as stew or chili, pot roast and bread pudding - the enclosed recipe booklet includes 50 ideas. Heat settings include High, Low and Keep Warm. A glass lid lets you keep an eye on what's inside. The nonstick bowls, lift-out stoneware pot and glass lid are completely dishwasher safe.

by Kristine (MINNEAPOLIS, MN) My sister and I bought this product for my mother as a Christmas present. We had her open it up first thing in the morning so she could use it that day. It worked really well and the clean-up afterwards was easy due to the separate "double dishes".
by Carolyn (PORT SAINT LUCIE, FL) 1 review I have owned this slow cooker for several years and love it. It is big enough to hold just about anything and is great as a double server when entertaining. The serving inserts are great for keeping dips and other party foods warm. I purchased a new one from Cooking.com for a friend who will like it as much as I do.
(NEW PROVIDENCE, PA) The crock pot cooks very fast..not a "slow cooker"...must be 1/2 full or more or things dry out or cook to mush in 8 hour timeframes in most crock pot recipes. Don't 'set it and forget it' for more than 6 hours even on "low" setting.
We purchased another crock in the 4 qt. size (same manufacturer) for our family meals and although it also cooks quickly, we can fill it 1/2 full or more and it seems to do ok. We tested it on a pork roast last week and it came out cooked to perfection.
We will continue to use this larger crock when we have meals to prepare and will be home in less than 6 hours, or running errands on an in-and-out-of-the-house type of a day...but won't leave it on all day while at work... My old crock pot was over 20 years old and cooked very slowly, as I needed it to do. I do miss that assurance...
I did a ham in the larger crock this past weekend and the sauce stained the inside of the crock. Vinegar soak didn't remove it. So it is stained. However will certainly not affect the cooking performance. Just aesthetics.
