by Roberta (Gaithersburg, MD) 1 review This blender is a nice, quality blender for the price. My only complaint is that it didn't have quite the power for smoothies that I was looking for.
by Clifton (Lawrence, MA) 1 review So far I am very pleased with this product. Though it is industrial quality, the looks of it fits very well on our kitchen counter. This thing is really good looking. I had done a lot of research on various blenders before purchasing this one and some of the things I was looking for was borne out. This blender is extremely quiet for something so powerful unless you use the highest speed. Cleaning this thing is such a breeze! You do get what you pay for and I feel that this was $200 well spent. I am still learning more about it. I am not some company plant here - I really like this blender. Cooking.com seems to be a great website-the process was smooth and easy and I ended up getting it sooner than I expected.
My Waring Pro finally cratered after 5 years, so I had to get something equally good. Unfortunately, during my research, it appeared that in the intervening 5 years, Waring's quality had seriously degraded, as product manufacture was China-ized.
Which, considering how much I like THIS blender, turned out to be a great move....thanks, Waring!
Anyway, I got this baby on clearance and it's fantastic. Power. Oh my. This thing has power to spare. Just to see if it'd work (the manual SAYS it will...), I decided to try to turn a blender full of ice cubes into snow....and the kitchen-aid didn't miss a beat. For more "everyday" tasks, it makes uber-quick work of smoothies, sauces, and milkshakes. Even if you prefer your smoothies roughly the consistency of setting concrete, this thing doesn't protest in the slightest.
As far as features go, I love the one-piece jar/blade assembly, because it's so ridiculously easy to clean...just toss the whole thing into the dishwasher. I'm also a big fan of the "step-on" feature, where the blender starts on low speed before ramping up to high speed....especially nice for blending hot sauces without sending yourself to the local burn ward.. The aesthetics are also nice....the polished nickle pearl finish is impervious to fingerprints and wipes clean easily and the overall shape is pleasing to the eye.
As far as quibbles go, I do have two small ones. First, I would prefer that the carafe be made of glass, as plastics (yes, ALL plastics) can stain if you leave something like a blueberry syrup in them overnight. (You CAN order a separate stainless steel carafe, but as I'm not Superman, I'd have a hard time seeing through such a carafe and judging when the contents have reached the desired degree of liquefication). Finally, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that this thing is a fairly beefy unit....and commands a good chunk of real-estate on the counter-top (or the storage drawer/shelf). If space is a concern, this could be an issue......
Anyway, all in all, I love this thing....and I love the fact that I got it for a a relative song.
by julie (Vancouver, WA) 5 reviews I have 3 boys and they love the blender drinks. You know, the ones with ice cubes and whatever fruit (banana, strawberry, etc) they can clog the standard blender with! This blender has already been worth its weight! They have had tons of fun and lots to drink since I got this blender. It looks good, runs good and has the "little things" that are nice. The cord hides under the base, the pitcher is totally easy to put on the base (no fidgeting with the base to fit it on the one way it goes, no leaks from the bottom getting loose) I love it.
