Calphalon Chef's Casserole:
The 7-Qt. Chef's Casserole with Lid is designed to be used on the stove top and in the oven. Use it on top of the stove to braise and sear, and once every ingredient is added to the pan, it can be covered and used like a Dutch Oven to complete the cooking process by baking.
Backed by a lifetime warranty, Calphalon's Commercial Hard-Anodized Cookware is made to professional standards, offering the home chef unsurpassed cooking performance and lasting durability. Each piece in the Commercial Hard-Anodized line is made of a heavy-gauge aluminum that distributes heat evenly and eliminates hot spots as you cook. And because it's made entirely of metal, each pan can be used in the oven and under the broiler. Hard-anodizing seals the cooking surface, making it stick-resistant and non-reactive to food. Handles are designed to stay cool on the stovetop and are balanced with such precision that even full pans are easy to manage and carry.
by Massimo (Southbury, CT) 3 reviews The classic shape for the dutch oven was finally back and I didn't miss the chance to get it, especially since it was on sale, and I'm glad I did. We already made a couple soups in it and they were delicious. The pot is large and versatile. Love it!!
by Craig (BLOOMINGTON, MN) 1 review Like other reviewers, I was surprised that for the size of the pot it was so lightweight. I assumed the worst - that this meant substandard construction which would translate to a less than enjoyable cooking experience. Usually one equates heft and weight with better construction when it comes to higher end cooking vessels. I read the reviews prior to ordering and was worried that I may end up purchasing something that was less than desirable from a cooking standpoint. And if the price had not been seriously discounted from the list price ($155), I would have been disappointed. However, for the price that I paid, this pot is just dandy! If you can score it in the $50 - $60 range instead of its ridiculously high list price, you should like this casserole just fine. I made beef stew in it for my first dish and had no problems at all due to the lighter weight construction. It heated very evenly and conducted heat well. If you need a new large casserole style pot at a decent price (assuming you don't pay list) you could do a lot worse. It may not be All Clad as far as solid-feeling construction, but it is still a nice casserole. I am glad I purchased this when it became available on sale. No regrets whatsoever.
by Shelly (Steuben, ME) 1 review This hasn't been used yet, but it's Calphalon--it's got to be good! It looks very well put together and I'm sure it will be excellent.
by Janet (Cottage Grove, MN) 1 review This is a great 7-qt. chef's casserole pot. Just the right size for large roasts, soup, etc. It cleans up quickly too. I am very satisfied with this pot.
by Rose Mary (MOORESVILLE, IN) 1 review I love my Caphlon cook ware and didn't have a large dutch oven. This will fit the bill for soups, stews, etc. I haven't used it yet, but I know I will be pleased with this product as I have been with my other Caphlon cookware.
