None of my former crockpots (all Rival) had failed, but as my household downsized I thought I didn't need such large ones, so gave them away. But I found I did, so ordered this one. I now have a 3 qt and 6.5 qt, use them often to make chicken stock among other things. The only improvement I can think of: it would be nice to have a little light to show when the appliance is on- maybe located as the dot over the "i" in Rival on the front!
