Bunn Black Thermal Brewer Coffee Maker:
Bunn re-thought, then redesigned the traditional coffee maker with a unique home brewer that is ready to go even before you are. With its original hot water reservoir-style system, water stays heated so you don't have to wait any longer than a quick three minutes for a piping hot cup of coffee. It brews 10 cups in all; a stainless steel, vacuum-insulated carafe keeps your beverage warm and fresh between pours. The tank is also stainless, offering a modern, clean look to your kitchen. Other features include an advanced spray head design, a brewing system thermostat that keeps your coffee at the precise temperature and a Vacation switch so you can shut the unit off while you are away, so the water warming cycle isn't running the entire time.

by dave (nauvoo, IL) 2 reviews This is one of the few machines that brews with water very near 200 deg. Most brew closer to 180 deg - and as a result - the flavor isn't as good. The machine is also very fast as it keeps water in a reservoir at temperature ready to go. The cold water you add to make coffee displaces the hot water so it brews very fast too. I think a full pot is done in less than about 2 minutes.
Downside... the machine keeps water in a reservoir at about 200 degrees so if you don't make coffee every day it seems like you're wasting energy. If you brew coffee infrequently you'll also lose water through evaporation. (I shut my work machine off over the weekend.) I also brew with purified water to minimize scale build-up in the brewer which can result from hard water.
The stainless insulated pot is a real asset too. Easy to keep clean as the top opening is very large. Keeps coffee hot all day without blasting it with heat from a burner.

by Carol (SEVIERVILLE, TN) We have used this coffee maker only about 6 times but so far we are not very impressed. Since the water goes thru so fast, we are using twice the amount of coffee that we used with our previous Cuisinart. It seems the coffee gets to lukewarm within about 2 hr, whereas before we had hot coffee for at least 3 hr. The Bunn was so highly rated and is more expensive, maybe we were just expecting too much.
