Starbucks Coffee Decaffeinated Sumatra Whole Bean Coffee:
Earthy and unpredictable, with an unusually concentrated flavor, heavy full body and deep, earthy aroma. Sumatra is Starbucks best selling single origin coffee.
Sumatra is one of the largest islands of Indonesia, a country comprised of several thousand islands stretching along the equator from Malaysia to Papua New Guinea in Southeast Asia. Ninety percent of the coffee grown in Indonesia comes from small, independent farms. Because the value of coffee is high, farmers grow this crop close to home, often in the backyard. After harvest, the farmer takes the coffee to the nearest milling co-op. Here it is combined with coffee from other small farms and sold. Eleven million people depend on coffee for their livelihood in Indonesia.
Most of the coffee grown in Indonesia is robusta. Therefore, the search for the arabica coffee that is ultimately used in Sumatra is arduous, challenging and always an adventure.
Finding and purchasing the best green beans in the world is the first step that differentiates Starbucks Coffee from the rest of the coffee industry. Starbucks is well-known for its exceptionally high quality coffees, care in selection, and expertise in roast. Each coffee is selected for the defining qualities that distinguish its origin. This careful selection process illustrates Starbucks passion for buying and roasting the world's best coffee.

by Donald (Dulles, VA) 5 reviews This is by far the best tasting decaf coffee of any. We regularly mix 1/2 regular and 1/2 decaf for our morning daily coffee and using the Sumatra, we can't even taste the decaf. Also has a wonderful flavor on its own for serving after dinner when we entertain - again, you can't tell that it's decaf!
by william (buffalo, NY) 1 review Product remains fresh when received in a tightly sealed package (one where the package is hard and the beans can be seen from the outside of the package). Loose packing does not seem to provide the same quality of coffee. I do purchase Starbucks coffee locally when I can find it. Decaf Sumatra is not carried by all stores or they only have small quantities on hand which sell/used fast.
