Now its a fire hazard and it won't come of the base with out serious effort. Pay a little more for a better one.

Keep in mind that if you live in an area with hard or mineralized water, it will probably need descaling every so often. We do this by adding a small amount of vinegar or lemon juice to about 3 cups of water, boil it, and rinse a few times with clear water.
