by Carol (Montgomery Village, MD) 4 reviews Needing a new teakettle after the death of my 8-yr old Krups, I bought the Chef's Choice kettle once I read previous reviews.
Pros: I like the fact that the heating element is hidden underneath the water chamber, and that the stainless steel interior helps to heat the water faster and keep it hotter longer (Krups had neither of these two features). I also like the ease of setting the kettle back on its base at any angle. The black and stainless color matches my appliances as well.
Cons: As some have already noted, there is a distinct heated plastic smell from the spout that transfers to the water; I am hoping that will subside once it is broken in for everyday use. I also wish it had a taller, slimmer profile--it takes up a larger space on my countertop than the previous one.
by Mary (Knoxville, TN) 5 reviews This kettle indicates how much water remains in the kettle, heats it quickly, and will never boil dry. Can't ask for much more.
by Cynthia (Redmond, WA) 1 review The style of kettle is ALL over Europe; from my friend houses to my last hotel room is Brussels. I came home looking for the style of kettle, but this brushed and larger capacity was better than what I was looking for! Water heats fast, auto-shut off working reliably, contents stay hot for an extended time. I'm happy!
by Merrill (Valdosta, GA) 13 reviews Clear directions and easy to use. Frees up a burner on the stove that I used to use for the teakettle. Automatically turns off when it senses steam.
I do both iced tea and hot loose tea at my house and this cuts down the time spent waiting for boiling water in half.
In the mornings, the three cup minimum supplies water for oatmeal and with enough left over for two 6 oz cups of hot tea. Three minutes!
