by john (Key West, FL) 1 review While I like the functionality of the Esclusivo Toaster with Warming Rack, including the wide openings which allow for thicker slices of bread, buns and bagels, as a designer, its form and stainless surface is beautiful and looks great in our all stainless Italian made kitchen
by harry (Santa Rosa, CA) 2 reviews This item looks very nice and will match the other brushed stainless appliances in your kitchen. Just drop in the bread . It gently descends and a pretty blue indicator light glows as the heating automatically begins. No push-down slides or levers to deal with. When finished, there is a soft pleasant 'ding' and the toast rises gently to the top. Need to clean the crumb tray? Just lift the top part off and the tray is left behind, ready to be emptied. No latches to deal with, couldn't be simpler. Style points: A+.
However, it's a toaster. It has only one purpose - to toast - and so far it doesn't do that very well.
The first problem is the heat adjustment. The control is a lever which can slide about two inches or so across a slot in the end of the toaster near the base. Minimum toasting at the left, maximum at the right. However, If you move the lever more than about 1/4 of the way from the left you get burnt toast. Slightly to the left of that results in not toasted at all. It looks like you would have 2 inches of adustment, so you could toast things exactly to your liking. But in reality you only have about an eighth of an inch. Result? Usually not toasted enough or toasted too much.
Another problem is that it seems designed to hold standard slices of Wonder Bread, but not much else. Oval or round pieces don't toast well. French bread and english muffins with thicker crusts usually have the crusts burnt and the centers untoasted. Slices of ordinary french bread are too long to fit in the slots and will get stuck unless you trim the ends off first to about the size of Wonder bread. Performance points: D-.
Bottom line: Unless your only interest is a good looking object to set on your kitchen countertop, you can probably find a lot better toaster for a lot less money.
by Enid (Croton on Hudson, NY) 1 review If the ideal is form follows function, this product does not make the grade. Although it looks lovely, if you want a piece of countertop furniture, look no farther. If you want a toaster that toasts well and evenly, search again. The slots are too short for a big slice of homemade bread. The toasting time from frozen to toast is way too long, even longer than my old Cuisinart toaster with one long slot that actually fits big homemade slices. You're paying a premium for looks.
by Nina (Mukilteo, WA) 1 review So far, we are very happy with this toaster. Ran it the first time with nothing in it as instructed and it was pretty smelly, but no bad odors after that. You only have to set it in the middle to get a pretty dark toasting and the operation in nice and smooth. Looks great, works great...we'll keep it.
by Josh (Louisville, CO) 1 review This toaster has beautiful clean lines and is easy to clean. The toaster lifts right off its base allowing a simple wipe of the tray to dispose of all those pesky crumbs that tend to collect in the bottom. The warming rack is a great bonus feature and the auto-toast sinking is just plain, cool gadgetry.
