by Katja (Concord, MA) 1 review This is my second electric teakettle by Krups (the other one is still hard at work at our other house). These kettles seem to last forever. It heats water quickly. On both this and the older model I have, I have a few minor complaint. First, the lid is very difficult to get on and off. Sometimes I get so frustrated with it that I just fill the kettle through the spout. This item is NOT to be recommended for anyone with arthritis or other conditions that might make it difficult for them to grab firmly. Because the lid is also fully separable from the kettle, some guests have also managed to misplace the lid. I much prefer kettles that have a flip top. Second, I wish the kettle had a decent indicator to let you know when it's reached a boil. Finally, this kettle is quite loud (as are many other kettles, in my experience). I can't talk on the phone in the kitchen when this device is on. In spite of these quirks, this kettle (and its stainless steel brethren) is very reliable, has a large capacity, and is quite attractive.
