You do have to turn it over say every 8th cup of water or coffee to empty water out of one part that ends up accumulating there by way of condensation.

I wanted to give this to somebody who was going to boot camp and I assumed that the unit was much smaller so it could be used in the barracks inconspicuously. That is not the case. Other than the unexpected size, the coffee maker is great and used often but probably won't make it to boot camp.
