Unlike other manual panini presses, the lid is not very heavy which may or may not appeal to people. Once you've heated the pan and lid on separate burners (or in the oven?) you can begin your press. Because this is a cooking method that's new to me it will take a while to get the hang of it. The first time it seemed to take quite a while to heat the sandwich through. The info it came with is very limited, so a panini cookbook would be a big plus. Overall it is a handy and versatile pan that's easy to clean.

Grill pan is terrific for meats and fish, also allowing for fat to be below the grills. As a panini press...it is more efficient, while not automatic, it IS one less electrical appliance to plug in. As always, Le Creuset is a high quality product.

Heats up exceptionally well, both the top and bottom can be heated, so grilled cheese sandwiches cook in a snap and no worries about it falling apart when you flip it, because there is no need to. Panini's turn out perfect, just a great addition to our collection.
