I had been planning on purchasing several individual OXO knives for my mother, but I really thought this was a bargain for such a large set. My mother is in her seventies and still cooks quite often. I like the soft and large handles on these because I thought that it would be easier for her athritic hands to hold on to. The knife block is very heavy and attractive.
