by Lois (Dallas, OR) 1 review The one thing I am disappointed in is the start-up speed. The description claimed it started out slowly so as not to splatter the ingredients all over - a very good idea. However, the first time I turned it on, it started out at about speed 3, and all over the floor and counter (and me) went the milk and eggs, a big mess. What it does is start fast, THEN slow down to #1 speed. I believe if I had it to do over I would have paid more attention to some of the earlier reviews which mentioned this problem and chosen a different brand. However, not having time to go to the expense and hassle of of returning the mixer, I decided to make the best of it. I have found that if I start at speed 1, wait for it to go through its speed-up-then-slow-down cycle, then carefully lower it into whatever needs to be mixed, it OK, if not what I expected. A deeper, narrower mixing bowl also might help. Other than that it seems to be a perfectly acceptable mixer.
