Catskill Craftsmen End Grain Hardwood Slab:
The Super Slab is over 30 pounds of rugged beauty! The block includes special features such as finger slots and rounded edges on a reversible board. Each block is laminated domestic hardwood for durability and toughness. The block will not dull knives and comes in a variety of grain patterns.
Products offered by Catskill Craftsmen are made from naturally self-sustaining, non-endangered North American hardwoods, primarily birch and hard rock maple. Lumber is purchased from area sawmills, then dried, manufactured, and packaged on site. All sawdust, shavings and waste materials generated during the manufacturing process is converted into wood pellet fuel, and used to heat homes. Catskill Craftsmen operations generate no wood waste.
by Kevin (Sedalia, MO) 9 reviews Fine furniture is an apt description for this cutting board. It's massive, and is something that will stay out on the work area at all times. The size offers a substantial work surface, while the mass makes for a very stable platform for any sort of knife or prep. The workmanship is excellent, and being a woodworker myself, I can be a bit picky about such things. The fact that I was willing to pay for this item rather than take the time to make one up myself should say something about the difficulty and labor involved in dong a cutting board well. Faced with the same choice again, I'd still buy this one rather than make one myself. Keep it oiled with a good mineral oil, and this one should last a lifetime. Very satisfied.
