disappointed in the temperature of the coffee

I love the way this coffee maker looks and I love the ease of operation. I was very disappointed that the coffee didn't brew hot enough - and it cooled much too quickly in the thermos. I thought I had found the perfect coffee maker, but unfortunately, it is on the way back to you for refund.

We recently retired our old coffee maker and decided on this one as it is one of a few coffee makers that offers a thermal carafe. We have never found a coffee maker with a hot plate and glass carafe that does not end up overheating the coffee and making it bitter. The overall features of this maker are good. Easy to set and the removable water tank is a bonus. Setting the time and brew cycle is easy too. The BOLD feature is also a plus as we like our coffee to taste like coffee. The issue is the carafe. The top lid threads on to the top of the carafe but NOT easily. When it comes time to pour it drips, splatters and pretty much makes a mess no matter how careful you are in pouring your first cup. Its worse when the carafe is full but it continues even to the last drop (which is hard to even get out). I hope that Calphalon will consider redesigning the carafe. I would then be able to give a top rating as that is the only drawback to this coffee maker.

I find the coffee maker to have a very poorly designed lid..very difficult to "seat" and difficult to open and close. It has also overflowed twiceand I have not owned it for long. I'm already looking at replacing it!!

We have made a few pots of coffee and each time they spill onto the counter and the pot is full of grounds. We would like to return this coffeepot.

Yes and No

This is a contemporary coffee maker with lots of stuff on it. For me, it's over engineered. I don't like having to fill the carafe with hot water for it to keep the coffee hot. It does not keep the coffee as hot as an old fashioned glass lined thermal carafe. It is also the wrong size for me. I thought I would like the 10 cup capacity, but I don't use that much coffee, so it merely created waste. All that said, it is very well made, as I would expect of Calphalon. I am a fan of the company and the way they do things. If you want 10 cups of coffee for the next hour, or if you want just a couple of cups right now, this may work for you. But if you actually want 6-8 cups over 4 or 5 hours, you will need to reheat. That doesn't work for me.
