As we approach winter, we tend to crave heavier foods. A fresh salmon filet served with plenty of hearty winter vegetables can be a very satisfying meal that's low on fat and high on taste. Prepare and bake the sweet potatoes first. Cover and keep warm while preparing the rest of the dish. Rice pilaf complements this menu nicely. While preparing the fish and vegetables, have the rice simmering on the stovetop on a back burner. Keep covered until a few minutes before serving. For dessert, add cocoa powder to a pound cake, giving it a kick in color and taste. Serve with fresh fruit.
