Yeah! Nut Cheese!
I have been making this recipe every year for the last 15+ years!! My in-laws won't let me in the door without the "Nut Cheese"! That's how much they all love it. I originally got the recipe from Blue Diamond Almonds many, many moons ago.. The presentation is fabulous although I place a sprig of the Christmas tree atop the "pinecone". Wouldn't be Christmas without this cheese.

Old favoriite party appetizer
I have made this pine cone since the 70's. I have used many different ingredients, like red peppers ,pineapple, dried cranberries and blue cheese. I also sometime use smoked almonds instead of plain ones. I use a small pine branch cutting, that I wrap the end with plastic wrap, and poke it in the top of the pine cone.

Fun Presentation, But Use Different Filling
If you like a craft project you will love making these. The pine cone effect is impressive, especially if you garnish with rosemary sprigs as suggested. From the looks alone this dish was a big hit! That said, while I enjoyed the presentation I did not care for the flavor or texture of the filling. Any creamy cheese or cheese ball mixture would work, though. I'm thinking a softened, blended goat cheese would be a nice variation.

Best cheese dip around, a must for all occasions.
I add lots of chopped scallions and use the Hormel real crumbled bacon, I add alot of bacon. Most of the time I use as a spread on party and pumpernickle bread. I like to make up the dip and refrigerate overnight in a covered container. Yummy! This is the best all around cheese dip, all my friends rave about it and newcomers always want the recipe.
