Easy and delicious!
I'm not a huge soup fan, but this was delicious. I had to make a couple of tweaks out of necessity. Didn't realize it called for 12 cups of broth, didn't have enough so I used half that amount. Omitted the small pasta shells-didn't need it. Used garlic/cheese sausage and kielbasa. Canned tomatoes were fire roasted. Three cheese tortellini. Delicious - will add to my regular recipe roundup.

Lot of soup
I made this soup but without listing the amount of servings it was hard to make it for my wife and I. In spite of that it turned out great.

Incomoplete information/confusing
Sounds delish, but could not make it! How much (or many) sausages and tortellini should I buy? What does "#1" mean? Does this refer to weight, count or particular package size? lease give amounts by number or better yet, by weight. Thanks.

Absolutely Fantastic Soup! A new Favorite!
Made the full recipe as stated. Only minor changes was I sauteed ALL the vegetables first and included about a cup of celery. I also used 8 cups of chicken stock and 4 cups of vegetable broth. I prepared mine in a slow cooker, on high for about 4 hours. Added the pasta shells uncooked at hour 3 and fresh tortellini about 30 minutes before serving. Turned out rich and heartly. Froze 1/2 of it for anothe meal. This recipe is a keeper.

Delicious, hearty soup
This was a lot of soup! I made this for my family of four, sent some to a family of three, and still had soup leftover to freeze. I will probably half the recipe the next time. The flavors were delicious. I cooked the pasta seperate and added it toward the end of cooking, so I didn't add as much chicken broth. I was worried the pasta would get too mushy. I am happy with my desision. This is a great recipe for a cold night.

Do you really need the pasta shells? It looks like a lot of pasta with the tortellini already in there.

Great Soup--been making similar for over 25 years
I include one or two zucchini and use beef broth. Important to store and/or freeze broth separately from rest of soup or they will absorb all the broth

YUMMY
I made this soup for my family and I halved the recipe. We LOVED it. Next time I will make the full recipe and freeze half for a busy night. I did leave out the HOT sausage for the small mouths in the famliy, but it was still very tasty!
