This is not a "Philly" cheesestake. It may be a cheesesteak. A true Philly requires you melt the cheese into the meat on a grill so all pieces of the meat are covered on all sides with cheese. It tastes different when you do it this way.

Philly Cheesesteak
Sorry but the real Philly Cheesesteak does not have green peppers nor mushrooms. (it's an optional thing). And, they use Rib Roast sliced very very thin. It's expensive but I'm certain they get special pricing. That is what gives the Philly Cheesesteak the special taste. Take it from a former Philly girl.

It's just okay.
I tried this version of a Philly Cheesesteak. It was just okay. The description mentions cheese wiz. Any self respecting connoisseur of Philly Cheesesteaks DO NOT use cheese whiz; they ask for American or Provolone cheese. Minute steak (usually this comes from a top round roast that has been frozen and thinly sliced) is used not sirloin. If you don''t sirloin steak correctly it is tough and chewy which doesn't make for an true Philly Cheesesteak. As for the flour PFFT, no reason for it,

Philly Cheesesteak sandwich
This is definitely NOT a Philly Cheesesteak, unlesss you eliminate the mushrooms, bell peppers, oregano, flour, checken broth, & hot banana peppers and replace the sirloin steak slices with rib-eye steak, and the whole wheat buns with Italian hoagie rolls.

Philly is not Cheez Wiz
The truly Philly cheese steak uses thin cut rib eye or similar beef. The masonite "sandwich steak" is not authentic. Neither is highly processed cheese "food." This recipe helps to dispel the misconception. And if you want to do it really right (as they do at Shank's in Philly), saute some fresh spinach and some garlic. Add it to the sandwich and top it with a good provolone!
