Perfect combination
This was a perfect substitute for the high calorie/high fat traditional recipe! It gave me my "fix" without too many worries and the taste was wonderful. Milk gravy or sausage gravy? both are an easy to swope!

For Pete's Sake
Filet mignon?? Whole-wheat panko crumbs?? Turkey sausage??? Egg WHITES? No way this is chicken-fried steak. Google the Saveur recipe. Cube steak. Flour. Eggs. Pork sausage. And only for breakfast. Regular pan gravy for dinner. This is a ridiculous recipe!

Seriously?
Truly, one of the most silliest recipes I have ever seen. Baked filet mignon with sausage (turkey) gravy made with chicken stock? Rocco somehow let this slip by. No one with his talent/skills would put a "southern comfort food" lable on this. LOL!

George, you are incorrect.
The normal ingredients for this recipe have been changed and lightened by Rocco to make it a leaner and healthier dish. That is also the reason for filet mignon rather than cube steak.

Heart attack on a plate, but worth the risk!
This is really, really good, southern style comfort food. Just make sure you don't have your annual physical scheduled anytime soon!

SAusage Gravy?
I love your recipe, however I gotta tell ya that "Sausage Gravy" on chicken fried steak (in the South) is for Chicken Fried Steak served with eggs for breakfast and just white or cream gravy when served as a dinner entree.

Filet Mignon?
Recipe sounds good, but filet mignon.....really? Can't even imagine using such an expensive cut for chicken fried steak. Cube steak....pounded very thing would be the right meat for this dish.
