Dry
Have a glass of milk with this or make it a la mode.

Great! With modification
I held a wine tasting at my house, and thought this would be a fun addition. Instead of regular red, I opted for a sweet red port. Wow. It came out amazing and was a hit. A bit boozy, but not too much, and using port gave it a nice rich, yet sweet taste.

Different and tasty
I made this recipe using a dark chocolate cocoa powder and a Merlot wine. I also used a Mexican vanilla rather than the typical bourbon based vanilla. It turned out fantastic. Next time I'm going to try cupcakes.

Great cake
This is the perfect cake for people who like a cake that is not to sweet. It was perfect with just the dusting of powdered sugar. It did have a little wine taste, but very sutle. Will definitely make this one again.

Different kind of chocolate cake
Red wine in chocolate cake sounded wonderful. I took into account the other reviewer's suggestion and used a red sweet wine and would like to try the beer she uses. I don't why the recipe uses a handheld mixer, but I used my stand mixer with good results. The cake was fine-textured, looked and tasted good. I dusted with powdered sugar, but think a glaze would be good, too, maybe with a little wine added.

Fantastic - with modifications!
The first time I made this, followed the recipe exactly, but the cake turned out bitter. Next time I used Robertson's sweet red wine, and it was much better. Now I use Lindeman's Lambic Framboise Beer, and add a touch of raspberry extract to the batter. They are awesome! I'm the chef at a local wine bar, and I bake these in mini cupcake pans (24 to a pan, 2 pans per batch, bake 15 minutes), and garnish with whipped cream and raspberry coulis. Our guests LOVE these cupcakes!
