If you want the filling centered in the cake as shown in the illustration you will have to make an indentation in the bottom batter to hold the filling because the one cup of batter left to top the filling is inadequate to both top the filling and fill in the sides. This is not a sweet coffee cake and I have many coffee cake recipes I like better but I will probably make it again because my husband loved it!

Disappointing
Sure looked good but was I did not enjoy this recipe. Not enough cheese filling or flavor and basically just fell flat taste-wise.

A lot of time and effort and very disappointing :(
Recipe was confusing. Lots of steps to get to the end product. Usually toppings go in the bottom of the bundt pan so when you turn it over, the topping is on top...makes perfect sense. This recipe calls for the topping to go on the top of the batter, so when you turn it over the topping is on the bottom, but they tell you to turn it back over so the curvy side is on the bottom. I thought that it was strange, but it do work out. Cake baked for 45 min. Was VERY dry and not very tasty.

I saw this recipe on Americas Test Kitchens and decided to try it. This cake is so good. Not the easiest to make maybe, but so worth it. Don't skimp nor go overboard on the lemon and ONLY use fresh lemons . Awesome. I've also used pecans for the topping when I was out of almonds, also very good.

Best coffee cake ever
I didn't see the credit line before I started reading the recipe but I recognized it immediately, I had it as a test recipe for ATK. This is one of the best cakes I have ever made, it is a little complex but completely worth it. You will not be sorry you took the time. I'm not a lemon fan so I use orange zest, you can flavor it however you wish.

AMAZING coffee cake!!
I just made this recipe last week to RAVE reviews. I've always wanted to make a coffee cake with a cheese filling & America's Test Kitchen took the mystery out of this recipe. I'm an experienced baker & the directions are simple. Once the cake cooled, I made a glaze of lemon juice & confectioners sugar to drizzle over the top & it was the 'icing on the cake.' Had a number of requests for the recipe!!

lazy baker
Is there possibly a way to adapt this to a boxed cake mix? If not, I may have to forget about it.
