North Florida Version
Add 2 sectioned, seeded ruby red grapfruit, lots of pecans, several sliced & chunked bananas, marischino cherries & if available fresh pineapple chunks. Make the night before thanksgiving for a perfect Turkey Day Ambrosia to start the big feast!!!

You are spot on!
Being from the South, I can testify that this is the "real deal." The only exception to that is the sherry - we didn't add that down here - we just added toasted pecans! Thanks for telling the "story". Yummmm
