Sweet or not sweet....that is the question?
I agree with Alan & the other fellow about southern cornbread. I didn't taste sweet cornbread until the 1990's & I am almost 60 yrs. old. So, I would prefer it w/o the sweetness. If I want sweet, I'll eat a piece of cake. The recipe is fine otherwise.

Worst?
Sorry to disagree Annette, but agree with Alan. This is a basic southern corn bread recipe (omitting the sugar). Make it often in my grandma's cast iron stick pans. If you make bread in a cast iron vessel always preheat it til the oil/fat is smokin hot! Butter and a glass of milk makes a meal!

Good receipe, but for really southern-style corn sticks, omit the sugar and use white cornmeal. For even better results, heat the cornstick pans (greased with bacon drippings!) first so that the batter sizzles when it hits the pan. Bet you won't be able to stop at just one.

corn b read sticks
This is the worst corn bread recipe I've tasted. I even added more sugar and some vanilla, but the entire household thought it was terrible. I suggest you take it off the recipe list........NOT GOOD AT ALL!
