BLAND!!
VERY bland even though I put twice the jalapeno in it. Tried to spice it up w/ more nutmeg and pepper, but it was still blah. Threw most of it away.

Disappointed
Although it is low calorie & easy to prepare, the flavor was too bland, & it seemed "watery" to me. Luckily I had an extra pumpkin (I used Golden Acorn)so I roasted this, then added this flesh to the soup, which helped. If I made it again I would double the jalapeno pepper amount.

My go-to fall soup
I LOVE this recipe, I've made it probably a dozen times and my family, friends, anyone who tries it loves it. And it's only 70 calories a serving! In a pinch I've used canned pumpkin - not quite as good but workable. I also use 1% milk in place of the buttermilk and can't tell the difference. The hot pepper is important to me in it, don't skip that.
