Recipe missing something?
My husband will eat anything sweet, so he liked it. I wondered if the recipe were not complete. The cake was "pasty" like not-very-good pancakes. The syrup should either be reduced by the heating (I would suggest to 1/2 cup), or else use less of it. I would not make it again, but I will use the idea to make a MUCH BETTER one.

Disgusting
Don't waste your Vermont maple syrup on this recipe. It looks and tastes like a pancake soaked in too much syrup.

Pretty Yummy!
Great simple little cake. It does NOT make 8 servings unless you are eating 2" piece. My husband really liked. After turning over onto serving plate, I threw on some chopped pecans. Great taste of Autumn!
